With Recruiting Over, Damarea Crockett Is All About His Senior Season

With his verbal commitment to Boise State made, Little Rock Christian High School (Arkansas) running back Damarea Crockett has time to focus on the now. That means the three-star prospect is able to stiff arm, run over, juke, or out run one defender at a time as he leads his undefeated squad down the field - all while not having to worry about his future.

"It's been a weight off my shoulders," Crockett told BroncoCountry recently. "Knowing that I'm committed and not having to worry about which schools are going to offer has been really nice."

Crockett and the Warriors are 5-0 this year, outscoring opponents 264-74. He has 16 all-purpose touchdowns on the season, and a number of times has found himself watching from the sidelines during blowout wins as the backups get playing time.

The 5-foot-11.5, 211-pound running back had originally planned to make his official visit to Boise State last weekend for the Hawaii game, but pushed it back. He will likely not visit until after the season, depending how deep a playoff run his high school team makes.

"I pushed my official visit back because of time difference and time change between Arkansas and Idaho," Crockett said. "I probably won't be able to come during the season, but we will see."

Since giving his verbal pledge to Boise State in July, a number of teams have contacted Crockett and have shown interest in him.

"Nebraska and Minnesota have been talking to me a bunch," he said. "But I am solid to Boise. That's where I want to be."

"I watched the game against Hawaii at home. (Boise State) did really good. I saw the defense and the offense clicking. It gets me very excited to get out there and be a part of it. Watching them on TV and knowing that I wll be on the team next year just gets me excited."

Crockett has also spent time talking with a few other people - his fellow Boise State 2016 recruiting class commits.

"I talk to those guys all the time," he said. "We talk before and after our games. We're really close. We are just keeping in contact."

Crockett and his Little Rock Christian squad faces Vilonia High School for homecoming Friday night.

"It's supposed to be a pretty good matchup," he said.
