Boise State Broncos Head Coach Bryan Harsin's October 11 Press Conference

With the Friday night game with Utah State approaching, coach Harsin gave his weekly press conference Sunday.

BOISE, Idaho--Boise State head football coach Bryan Harsin talked to the media Sunday about the 41-10 victory over Colorado State, the upcoming game with Utah State, the reccruiting of Brett Rypien, why Boise State has been so successful stopping the pass this season and the contributions of his players in drawing up plays and adjustments.

Boise State raced to a 17-0 lead last Saturday before Colorado State was able to respond.  At that point, the Rams generated a long drive for their only touchdown of the game.  The Broncos advanced to 5-1 on the season, enabling them to reach #19 in this week's Associated Press poll and #20 in the Coaches poll.

Halfway through the season, Boise State has allowed less than a 50% completion percentage (108-224) for opposing quarterbacks, and the Broncos rank third in the nation in pass efficiency defense.  Asked about why the Bronco defense has been so stingy, Harsin said that his team has forced opponents into second-and-long and third-and long situations.  "I think the D-line getting pressure on the quarterback, [and him] not able to set his feet, and then our guys doing a very good job of studying and having a pretty good idea of what's coming," he said.

Boise State has a short week getting ready for the game at Utah State.  The Broncos and Aggies meet Friday night in Logan.
