Boise State Bronco Brittany Aoyama Named National Swimmer of the Week

Brittany Aoyama received a prestigious national honor from CollegeSwimming.com.

SOMERS, Wisconsin--Boise State junior Brittany Aoyama was named today as CollegeSwimming.com's Female Athlete of the Week, the first such honor for a Boise State swimmer.  Aoyama also added Mountain West Conference Swimming Athlete of the Week to her resume for her efforts last weekend.

Aoyama won seven of the eight events she entered this past weekend, including four individual wins.  Aoyama swam on Boise State's winning 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay teams Friday in Salt Lake City, with the Broncos posting Mountain West Conference bests that are ranked in the top 30 nationally.  Brittany also won the 100-yard butterfly and finished second in the 50 freestyle.

The following day, Aoyama won the 100 butterfly, the 200 butterfly and the 100 freestyle, and helped the Bronco medley relay team win against BYU.

The Broncos defeated Utah but lost by a narrow margin to Florida Gulf Coast Friday, and then came back to defeat BYU Saturday.
