PORTLAND, Oregon--The Boise State women's basketball team put on a clinic this afternoon in disposing of Portland 89-49. The win was head coach Gordy Presnell's 180th at Boise State to set a new school record.
The Broncos controlled the boards 49-24. They outshot the Pilots, 50% (34-68) to 35% (18-52) from the field, from three-point land (40%--6-of-15 to 24%--4 of 17) and from the free-throw line (79% on 15-of-19 shooting to 69% on 9-of-13). And Boise State's defense picked up 13 steals to 4.
Brittany Pahukoa returned to the Bronco lineup to pace six players in double figures with 19 points. Marta Hermida had 15, while Marijk Vanderschaaf had 11 and Miquelle Askew, Joyce Harrell and Shalen Shaw had 10 each. Yaiza Rodriguez had seven assists in quarterbacking the offense.
Holly Blades led Portland (2-7) with 11 points.
Boise State advanced to 4-3 with the victory and will host Idaho State Friday night at 7 in Taco Bell Arena.
