Boise State Bronco Pete Clark Earns National Award for Excellence in Communication for Cross Country

Clark was instrumental in gaining new coverage for the Bronco cross country teams.

Boise State graduate assistant sports information director Peter Clark has been named the Division I recipient of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Excellence in Communications Award, the USTFCCCA announced Tuesday.

The Excellence in Communications Award recognizes athletics communications representatives at schools and conferences who have committed to excellent coverage and support of collegiate cross country.

According to the organization, "With more eyes on the Broncos than ever before...Peter Clark stepped up his coverage and promotion in a big way."

His role in generating publicity for the Broncos’ cross country program – through traditional media outlets and through Boise State’s social media channels – were among the myriad of reasons Clark was bestowed with the honor.

Clark is in his first year as a graduate assistant with the Broncos, after serving a one-year internship at Oregon during 2014-15. He initially joined Boise State as a volunteer in the SID office upon graduating from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., in 2013, where he was a member of the men’s basketball and men’s golf teams.

BroncoCountry.com led the way in coverage of Boise State cross country this year with the first local interview with phenomenal freshman Allie Ostrander in August, numerous interviews with coach Corey Ihmels and the other members of the team and articles on all the achievements of the record-breaking Bronco cross country teams.
