Mike Young Sold On Boise State

It was only recently that “Big” Mike Young received his offer from Boise State. The 6’6”, 334lb offensive lineman from Arizona was still mulling his decisions at the time. He wasn’t in a rush to make his decision, and made sure to tell Bronco Country that he was taking his commitment very seriously. Well, it didn’t take long for Young to decide that the City of Trees was the place for him.

Bronco Country was able to talk with Mike Young regarding his commitment, which he explained as “solid, 100%, and no backing out”. He is excited for the opportunity to step out on that Blue Turf and play college football for Boise State.

Among the factors that played into Young’s ultimate decision to commit were “a great school and staff that will better him as a man and show him the ways of being a Bronco. Excited to be surrounded by good people”.

Young is being recruited as a left tackle, but Coach Huff tells him that he’s got the size and athleticism to have an impact anywhere on the offensive line. In fact, Big Mike still has another year to develop, heading into his senior year of high school this fall. It’s entirely possible that Young will be even bigger one year from now, which should excite both fan and coach (and probably Brett Rypien).

Mike will not be taking any other visits, except on his unofficial, and official to Boise State. He has his unofficial trip scheduled with his parents for June 25th, and will be attending a Boise State game in the fall for his official visit.

Although Young is “confident” with his decision, that likely won’t stop the likes of other top-tier programs to come calling is name. With prototypical size, a great head on his shoulders, and a senior season ahead of him, there will undoubtedly be other offers and schools that come calling his name.

When asked if he had anything he would like to say to the fans or those following his journey, he gave a very solid and enthusiastic, “Go Broncos!” A fitting way to end our conversation and this chapter of Mike’s story. Look for more information about Young’s visits coming up in the future
