66% of Boise State's commitments are named Michael Young

Boise State has landed a commitment from Michael Young. Wait.. don't skip over this announcement.. it's a different Michael Young. Mike Young, (Dodge City CC, Kansas) is a 6'0 207lb DB who plays seek and destroy in the defensive backfield.

Dodge City CC (KS) Defensive Back Michael Young (6'0 207lbs) announced his commitment to Boise State today via twitter.

Young, who redshirted his freshman season at Iowa Central C.C. transferred to Dodge City last year, appeared in all 12 games in 2015, recording 51 tackles and six pass breakups from the safety position. Young will reportedly sign with Boise State in December as a mid-year transfer with two years to play two.

With regards to where he'll play in the Defensive Backfield, Young told the Iowa State Scout.com site earlier this year that he's comfortable at either CB or Safety. “I can play both. (positions) In high school I played cornerback. I didn’t really start playing safety a lot until I got to college. Cornerback is really easy to me," Young said. "I think most of [the schools] see me at safety because I played safety the entire season. I didn’t start playing cornerback for the team until the spring. I’m not sure [where I’ll play this fall], my coach doesn’t even know.”

Originally from Raytown Missouri, Young's style of play is very similar to the prototypical Boise State DB.. he flys to the ball on the ground and has very good coverage skills.

As mentioned in his twitter announcement, Mike Young's commitment comes at a bitter-sweet time for him as he just suffered the very recent loss of his Grandmother, after losing both parents previously. His announcement shows the emotion and turmoil he's endured, and also the singular dedication and drive it has taken him to win a scholarship offer, and place in the Boise State family.
