BOISE, ID--The Boise State volleyball team is practicing for a return battle with Utah State this Thursday in Logan. The Broncos have captured eight straight matches and are one win away from their third 20-win season in a row, something that hasn't occurred at Boise State for 26 years.
Sure, the Boise State team is hitting on all cylinders right now, but coach Shawn Garus made it clear that his team still has goals they've yet to achieve--"Winning the conference and getting to the NCAA's--those are the two things that we really want to check off our goals list, and those are the kinds of things that recruits want to see in high-level programs," Garus said.
The Broncos own a win over Utah State earlier this year in three sets, but as Garus pointed out, all three sets were decided by two points: "They (the sets in the first match) could have gone any direction. I feel like we have the talent to win that match, but it's certainly not going to be easy," Garus said, "and I think Utah State might feel like that match got away, that they had a chance to take a set or two off of us here and maybe push us."
Garus noted the team's improvement since the first match with the Aggies and said the Broncos are healthier as well.
The match between the Broncos and Aggies gets underway Thursday at 7 p.m.
