Boise State has had some players decommit recently, which brought apprehension and concern over two positions in particular, Offensive Line and Wide Receiver. But Boise State fans can exhale after news Monday that Mesa CC Offensive Tackle Isiah Moore, and El Cerrito HS Wide Receiver Damon Cole had both recommitted and committed, respetively.
Moore was never a decommit, but his status was very much cloudy as he garnered interest and offers from both Arizona and UCLA of the Pac12. Monday, however, he reaffirmed his intention to sign with Boise State on Wednesday.
Cole officially visited Boise State over the weekend, along with fellow visitor and committee Octavius Evans, who himself announced his commitment to the Broncos yesterday.
Cole became one of the hottest WR recruits in the Western US, getting a flurry of offers and visit requests late in his recruitment, but it was Boise State, and new WR Coach Eric Kiesau, (who had a preexisting relationship with Cole from his days of recruiting for Fresno State before joining the Boise State staff), that put the Broncos over the top.
Cole now joins two other new WR's in the previously mentioned Evans, and Cartrell Thomas, who himself was the subject of speculation on Sunday as a Utah recruiting site erroneously reported that he was on an official visit to Utah, who had continued to recruit the Texas speedster after his commitment to Boise State. That report was later debunked.
All told, Boise State held off 3 different Pac12 teams for recruits, landed one WR over SEC, Big10, and Big12 offers, and another over several future conference opponents. Not a bad way to start NLI Week.
