Boise State Beat Utah 73-68 to Advance to the Second Round of the NIT

It took a career night from Chandler Hutchison (34 points) and Marcus Dickinson (12 points) to pull it off, but Boise State went into Salt Lake and bullied their way into a win over the Pac12's 4th best team, the Utah Utes, on Tuesday.

Chandler Hutchison had a career-high, and Boise State post-season record 34 points, and Marcus Dickinson scored 10 points in the second half during a stretch that saw Boise State go from 11 down to leading by as many as 9 before the final score of 73-68.

This marks the second time Boise State has beaten Utah in the first round of the NIT to advance.

Boise State also got a strong performance from Zach Haney, who had 3 blocked shots and played stingy defense down low late, as the youth of the Bronco squad led the way, as only 4 points were scored by someone who isn't expected back on the team next year.

The win gives Boise State 20 on the season, making this their 5th season in a to reach the 20-win milestone, the first time a Boise State team has accomplished that feat.

The Broncos will rest now and prepare for a 2nd round matchup against a leaderless, but talented and 2nd seeded Illinois team that beat Valparaiso 82-57.
