The Broncos defeated the Fresno State Bulldogs 33-16 in front of a sold-out Bronco Stadium, and a national audience on ESPN II to run their respective streaks to 7 this season, a perfect 22 straight wins in the WAC, and a national best 18 overall. They also own the nations best home game win streak, and more importantly, a 4 game win streak over Fresno.
Boise State dominated Fresno State from the outset, taking the lead on the first drive and never looking back. That streak, coupled with LaTech's loss to UTEP earlier in the day leaves Boise State as the lone unbeaten WAC team in conference.
Fresno came into the game with an impressive rushing attack, but the most impressive runner on the field Saturday was Lee Marks, who broke 100 yards again with 112 yards with a combination of tough yardage through the middle and long runs once he broke containment.
Jared Zabransky was equally impressive, as he broke from the pocket multiple times to keep drives alive. 'Z' also hooked up with Sherm Blaser, Drisan James and TJ Acree for some acrobatic catches. His lone passing TD of the evening, however, went to Senior TE Andy Weldon.
The Bronco Defense held the potent Bulldog Rushing attack to a stunningly anemic 12 yards and controlled the Bulldog Offense for most of the evening. They picked off interception prone Paul Pinnegar twice with both Andy Avalos and DeShan Cabaong coming up with timely INT's.
Tyler Jones led the Broncos in scoring, going a perfect 4-4 in FG's, including a 45 yarder.
The Broncos will enjoy this victory until tomorrow morning when the focus will shift to the Hawaii Warriors, who will come into Boise for a Friday night game that will once again be televised by ESPN II.
