Broncos Get Bigger

Boise State, who has struggled with bigger opponents in the past, lands it's third player over 6'9 in as many years.

Greg Hicks, Scout.com Basketball Recruiting Specialist, has released the following information today:

Zack Moritz, 6-10 SR C Vancouver (Wash.) Columbia River, has committed to Boise State, according to a source close to the recruitment. Moritz was also considering Portland State, Northern Arizona and UC Santa Barbara, among other programs, prior to making the commitment.

Moritz had indicated that he was leaning toward the Broncos, ("Boise State is probably the one I'm the most serious about right now," said Moritz. "They've been involved a long time."), but his visit to Boise State on Sept. 21st, (during which he witnessed the thrashing of Bowling Green), must have pushed him over the edge to commit early. As a Junior, Mortiz averaged 10.4 ppg and 7.2 rpg.

Reports indicate that Moritz, despite his height, runs the floor very well and is still growing into his body. As a Sophomore, Moritz was listed at 6'8 215lbs, now he stands 6'10 1/2 and hopes to weigh in at 230 for his senior season. Moritz also has a wide frame, (broad shoulders), and will likely pack on some muscle once he reacehs campus. Besides being a presence down low, Moritz is said to be a demon on the boards, especially on the Offensive side of floor.

He might have fouled the shooter. ;)
