Broncos Go for 300th Win as a 4-Year School

The amazing Boise State Broncos are about to achieve something that only two other schools have done--win their 300th game as a four-year school in less than 40 years. Coach Dan Hawkins and the Broncos go for #300 Saturday night against San Jose State.

 

It took a little longer than Bronco fans had hoped, but with one more victory, Boise State will earn it's 300th since it became a four-year school in 1968. To give this achievement perspective, I looked at how long it took other schools to do the same thing. I "started the clock" in the first season in which the school played a nine-game season. If Boise State can win one more game in the next 3 seasons, there will be only four schools (Princeton, Pennsylvania, Harvard and Yale) who recorded their 300th wins in less time than Boise State. All of those played in the dark ages; Yale from 1886-1916, Pennsylvania from 1885-1916, Harvard from 1893-1916 and Princeton from 1884-1921 (36 years of football).
