BC Update: Spanaway WA DLineman Jason Brace

Ask any College Football fan about recruiting and they'll tell you that it's a gamble at best.. a crapshoot. Well if that's accurate, then one of the safest bets in the NorthWest is Spanaway, WA Defensive End Jason Brace. Scout.com's John Penton spoke with the big DLineman to get his thoughts on his senior season, and about which schools are in the running for a visit. Does Boise State still hold a ticket for the Jason Brace jackpot..?

Jason Brace, Monday, Oct. 31. (Phone Interview)

Jason Brace, who classifies himself as a "quiet" person is pondering which 5 schools to visit. When asked which 5 schools he is planning to visit Jason replies… "I haven't set any dates. Probably will set some pretty soon." So I rephrased the question and asked if there were any particular schools he wanted to see. This question provided me with a little more insight to his plans "Well I will probably set one with UCLA but after that I am not sure"…"I have never been to the LA area…so I don't know if I like it or not."

Jason has already made unofficial visits to "Pullman, Seattle, Eugene and Corvallis". (Indicating Washington State, Washington, Oregon, and Oregon State are under consideration.) He goes on to say, "I plan to take all five of my visits…after that I will pick my school."

When asked if Boise State is on the list "I don't really have a list but I'm definitely looking at them…I've read a couple articles about their head coach." When asked what criteria he is using to pick a school, Jason replied "Coaching staff, environment…and how I feel…how comfortable I am…" At the moment Jason is entrenched with football. His team went 6-3 and made it to the playoffs. When I asked if he felt that his team played well the entire season, he responded that they had, "(m)ade it to playoffs but we started real slow….We weren't playing as a team… I think we can go really far…we are playing pretty good.

At the moment Jason's goals are to "be all state and pick a college." When asked about his hobbies, Jason replied, "besides football and working out…not much."

Jason is taking the recruiting process in step, and while he is holding his cards pretty close to his chest, it is readily apparent that he will weigh all his options before he makes a solid commitment, and one of those options continues to be Boise State.
