Arizona LB Sets Trips

Gerald Munns, a 6'3 220lb senior Linebacker at Chandler, Arizona's undefeated Hamilton High School is having a standout senior season... and numerous schools have taken notice. Now the leader of the 2-time State Champion Huskies is setting his visits, and first on his list is a trip to Boise...

Gerald Munns and the powerful Hamilton High Huskies are on the verge of becoming the first football team in Arizona Class 5A history to win three straight state championships, needing two more victories to three-peat. Tonight, the Huskies play a semifinal game against top-seeded Westwood at Mesa Mountain View High.

Dating to last season, Hamilton has won 18 straight games, thanks to a prolific offense and a stingy defense that allows a mere 8 points per game, and 9 games into the season had allowed a mere 3-points total. (Not per game, 1 field goal had been scored against them in their first 9 games.) That combination is good enough to be ranked the No. 13 High School Football Team in the nation by USA Today and No. 11 by Sports Illustrated. Gerald Munns is the unquestioned leader of Hamilton's defense, and is a large part of that stingy defense.

Munns leads Hamilton at nearly 11 tackles per game, and has been called "the best linebacker in the state", and described by his coach as "smart, big and can fill a hole. He gets to the hole before the ball carrier. He controls the whole defense and moves everybody around."

Now all Munn's hard work is paying off in another way besides his team's undefeated season... schools are beating a path to Arizona to recruit him. Munns recently told the Arizona Central that he has planned visits to San Diego State and Boise State, and could visits a few other interested schools.

As Hamilton continues their march toward a record 3rd straight State Championship and undefeated season Gerald Munns will undoubtedly receive even more attention, however at this time his only official visits are to Boise State and San Diego State.
