Boise State Wrestlers Move to 5-1

The Boise State wrestling team continued to surge through the state of California, easily defeating Cal State-Fullerton in a dual match last night.

Freshman Cory Fish opened Boise State University's wrestling match at Cal State Fullerton last night with a pin and the Broncos never looked back in roaring to their fifth straight dual match victory in a 31-7 PAC-10 decision. Boise State is 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the PAC-10.

Fish pinned James Bailey of Fullerton at the 2:50 mark of the 125-lb. match, the first of three straight Bronco Victories as Boise State built a 12-0 lead. Scott Jorgensen and Jordan Brock collected wins before Nick Beute lost at 148 and Johnny Nunez was defeated at 165. In between Ben Cherrington scored an impressive 17-2 win at 157. After Nunez' defeat, there would be no more Bronco losses, as Ben Gilliland, K.C. Walsh, Casey Phelps and Andy Patrick all put away their opponents.

The Broncos will complete their four-match swing through California with two dual matches today. At 3 p.m., Boise State will wrestle Purdue University, then rest up (?) for a match against hometown Cal Poly at 7:00 p.m.
