Since moving into fourth place in the Western Athletic Conference, Boise State's women's basketball team now has seen all the gains they've made dissipate. An 81-64 shellacking at the hands of Fresno State now means that after tonight's action, Coach Gordy Presnell's team may be ahead of only Idaho and Utah State in the league standings. Fresno ran out to a 19-3 lead at the outset and, thanks to 22 turnovers, the Broncos were never in the game. Fresno State extended the lead to 45-21 at halftime, increased it to 32 in the second half and coasted in from there.
Jessica Thompson and Nadia Begay were held to just nine points each for Boise State. The Broncos were led by Jackie Lee and Benita Buggs with 12 each followed by Jenna Galassi's 10. Chantella Perera netted 21 points to pace the Bulldogs with help from Mirenda Swearengin's 17.
The Bronco women drop to 12-10 and 4-6 in the WAC. Fresno is now a half a game behind Louisiana Tech for first place with a sterling 7-1 league mark and an overall record of 15-5.
Boise State will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Honolulu to face the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine at 7:00 p.m. (Hawaiian) in the Broncos only game of the week.
