Bronco Wrestlers Upend Aggies 26-14

Boise State's wrestling team was without one of its top wrestlers but still came through to defeat UC-Davis in California last night.

The Boise State wrestling squad rebounded from three losses and a two-week layoff to score a key 26-14 win on the road at UC-Davis last night. Freshman Tyler Sherfey continued his winning ways at 149 pounds with a pin and Ben Cherrington remained undefeated at 157 pounds with a major decision over Davis' Dustin Noack.

Sherfey pinned Jesse Padilla at the 2:41 mark to improve his overall record to a team best 24-7. Cherrington has won all 10 of his matches since coming back from an early season injury. Casey Phelps won again at 197 pounds for the Broncos to move his season mark to 22-7. Scott Jorgensen, the #1-ranked wrestler in the PAC-10 and #11 in the nation at 133 pounds once again did not wrestle for the Broncos.

Boise State is now 7-4 in dual meets this season with a 3-3 record in the PAC-10 Conference. The Broncos return home Friday for their final home match of the season when they host Portland State University in another Pac-10 dual.
