Broncos Blow 13-Point Lead Against Hawai'i

For the second consecutive game, Boise State ran up a lead against a WAC opponent, only to lose.

Boise State lost a 13-point first half lead and fell to Hawai'i 73-64 yesterday afternoon at Taco Bell Arena. After winning three games in a row, the Broncos have now dropped two straight and have seen their record slip to 5-7 in the Western Athletic Conference. Boise State is 12-11 overall.

Coach Greg Graham's team got a tremendous start, shooting out to a 19-6 lead but then fell apart as they did at Louisiana Tech. The Rainbow Warriors used 52 percent first-half shooting to outscore the Broncos from that point 35-13 to take a four-point halftime lead. Boise State could get no closer than that the rest of the game.

Julian Sensley led four Hawaii players in double figures with 22. Matt Lojeski added 16, Gueye had 14 and 11 rebounds and Deonte Tatum finished with 13 points.

Coby Karl fired in 26 points to lead the Bronco offense. Kareem Lloyd had his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Broncos as a team, however, shot just 37.3% for the game. Karl passed Bronco great and National Basketball Association player John Coker for 10th place on the all-time Boise State scoring list.

Boise State travels to play New Mexico State Wednesday night and then returns to host Cal State-Northridge Saturday night in the ESPN Bracket Buster series.
