Broncos Fall Short Against Utah State

Coby Karl missed an off-balance jump shot at the buzzer and Boise State's furious comeback from 16 points down with 6:50 to play came up two points short as Utah State beat the Broncos 64-62 in Taco Bell Arena Thursday night.

Karl scored 11 of his game-high 19 points in the final seven minutes as Boise State went on a 17-3 run to cut the lead from 61-45 to 64-62 with 48 seconds to play. The Broncos forced a Utah State turnover with 22 seconds remaining to set up the final try.

Kurt Cunningham scored 10 points and added a career-high five assists for Boise State. Kareem Lloyd had eight points, 11 revounds, two blocks and two steals.

Jaycee Carroll led Utah State with 18 points, while Nate Harris had 16 points and eight rebounds.

The Aggies shot 63 percent (17-of-27) in the first half while Boise State could manage just 31.3% on 10 of 32 shooting. Utah State advanced to 9-4 in the Western Athletic Conference and 19-6 overall. Boise State fell to 13-13 and 5-9 in the WAC.
