Hamdan Leads Quarterbacks In 1st Scrimmage

Justin Wilcox's Boise State defense gave fans a preview of what to expect this fall, thoroughly dominating the Bronco offense in the first scrimmage of the spring. Sophomore Bush Hamdan hit 7 of 10 passes and scored a touchdown to lead the Bronco quarterbacks.

All expectations are that the Boise State defense will dominate teams this fall. In the Broncos' first scrimmage of the spring tonight, they held the potent Bronco offense to just 89 yards rushing on 33 carries and 236 passing yards on 40 attempts. Seth Anderson and Dalls Dobbs recorded sacks for the defense.

Led by quarterback Bush Hamdan, the offense scored on their first posession, with Hamdan scoring on a one-yard scamper. The Bronco freshman completed 4 of 5 passes to lead the team down the field and finished the night a sparkling 7 of 10 for 80 yards. Hamdan led all quarterbacks in the scrimmage with a 137.20 quarterback rating.

Freshman Ian Johnson scored on a seven yard run, while Brett Denton led nine Bronco ball carriers with 47 yards.

Jon Helmandollar led 14 Boise State receivers with three catches for 21 yards. Other Bronco standouts were Jerard Rabb with two catches for 34, Tanyon Bissell with 1 grab for 34, Drisan James 1 for 21, Nick Harris (2-25), Vinny Perretta (2-24), Denton (2-10) and Toshi Franklin (2 for 23).

Freshman Nick Lomax completed 6 of 12 passes tonight, but suffered two drops among those six incompletions. Senior Jared Zabransky finished 6 of 10 for 81 yards.
