Jarrell Root: Leaves no doubt on his decision

While BroncoCountry first brought you Jarrell Root's recruiting story.. that information was soon followed by confirmation from various sources that Jarrell had made his choice to become a Bronco. Now that the media frenzy has slowed.. we return to the man himself to hear it directly from him. (FREE CONTENT)

IdahoPrep's publisher Matt  Williams was gracious enough to contact new Bronco commit Jarrell Root for BroncoCountry.

We've all heard the story, how Jarrell Root had never played organized Football before his Junior season. That he had aspirations of playing College Basketball but was talked into trying out for the football team. How after a season, learning on the fly, that saw him make 40 tackles and 7 1/2 sacks, he got an offer to play football from his self-described, "dream team." But what we haven't heard is what Jarrell has to say now that the media frenzy has slowed down and he's had some time to process everything.

Jarrell confirmed, once again, what has been all over the Boise media for weeks, that he is indeed committed to Boise State. However, he also went a little deeper into his recruitment for BroncoCountry.

When asked which Coach had actually offered him the scholarhsip, Jarrell responded that he'd spoken with a few of the coaches, but that Coach Pete himself had made the official offer.

He also said that while he would be taking his official visit to Boise State later in the season, that he had no plans to trip anywhere else. He explained that there'd be no reason to trip elsewhere because, as he put it, "I'm sure I know where I'm going."

Jarrell went a step further when asked if an offer from Oregon or Oregon State could possibly change his plans, (both schools had expressed an interest in him prior to his commitment) To that question, he replied firmly, "I'm a Bronco sir!"

Like many recruits, Jarrell indicated that getting his recruitment finished early in the season was a relief, but not just to himself. "I feel great", he said, "My mom and myself have had a large weight lifted off our shoulders, and my father is stoked too."

When asked about any goals for the upcoming season, Jarrell simply stated that his personal goal was, "to do as good as I can and have fun doing it."

Jarrell indicated that he hasn't taken the SAT or ACT yet, but that he plans to take both in Sept and Oct.
