Cougars add Idaho Linebacker

Marshal Pirtz' (Boise, Centennial HS) recruitment was the very definition of flying under the radar. Pirtz was late in getting his recruiting tape out to schools, so he was a virtual unknown. Then last week his video landed on a number of D1 Coaches desks across the west.. and just a week later the 6' 210lb linebacker is headed to the Pac-10 on a full-ride.

Marshal Pirtz LB for Centennial High school verbaled to Washington State University just this weekend upon returning home from his official visit to the Pullman, WA campus.

Idahopreps.com caught up with Pirtz minutes after the official offer came. "It was awesome. Everyone was so nice", Pirtz said. "I was the only recruit they flew in this weekend, it was a blessing, the coaches were really nice."

Pirtz went on to say that, "they don't want me to red shirt. They want me to play on special teams and compete for playing time. All the coaches commented on my tape. It was a great weekend."

Pirtz was late in getting his tape out to coaches but caught the attention of many colleges just last week. Oregon, Boise State, Penn State, Washington, and Texas, were among some colleges that showed interest. "Texas and Boise wanted me to walk on." I thought Boise State was going to offer but it never came."

Washington State called Marshal minutes after watching his highlite/video tape to offer the recruiting trip. Obviously, they liked what they saw, but then again so did Pirtz.

"I am solid. I am a Coug."
