Bronco Wrestling Team Tops Wyoming 26-12

The wrestling match between Boise State and Wyoming in Laramie figured to be a tough battle that could be decided in the last match or two. The Broncos had other ideas.

The Boise State wrestling team raced to six consecutive individual wins and rolled to an easy 26-12 win over Wyoming last night in Laramie.

#16 Tyler Sherfey posted a resounding 16-1 technical fall over Dane Fuhram at 157 pounds to open the match for Coach Greg Randall's Broncos.  Johnny Nunez and Nate Lee followed with decisions at 165 and 174 pounds, respectively, and then Luke Smith scored a pin of Wyoming's Preston Pavich at 184 pounds.

After Ryan Allen's victory at 197 pounds and Andy Patrick's decision in the heavyweight class, the Broncos found themselves with a 23-0 lead.  Levi Jones completed the scoring with a decision over Cory VomBaur.

Boise State returns home next Friday, January 26th for a match with Cal State-Fullerton.  The match will be in Bronco Gym beginning at 5 p.m.
