Going To Chicago!

Coach Greg Patton's Boise State tennis team has become a consistent national player. For the second time in the last three years, Boise State is in the National Indoor Championships.

The Boise State men's tennis team captured the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region championship last night with a 5-0 shutout over New Mexico at the Boas Indoor Tennis Facility.  With the win, Coach Greg Patton's team qualified for the Sweet 16 at the National Indoor Championships for the second time in three years.  Boise State is set to travel to Chicago to compete against the nations' best February 16-18.

Blake Boswell and Eric Roberson won a hard-fought victory in doubles over the Lobos 8-6 to open the match.  After Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski of New Mexico knocked off Luke Shields and Piotr Dilaj 8-6, the doubles point was on the line.  The 2006 All-WAC doubles team of Clancy Shields and Steve Roberson came through with an 8-4 victory, securing the first point of the evening.

#15 Luke Shields led #73 Max Jones by one set and one game when Jones had to withdraw due to health reasons.  Boswell made it 3-0 with a straight sets victory over Pajkowski.

Junior Piotr Dilaj followed with a 6-3, 7-6 victory and the Broncos were headed for Chicago!  Clancy Shields finished his match at the same time as Dilaj's, giving the Broncos five wins.

Earlier in the day, Boise State qualified for the championship match with a 4-0 win over UNLV, while New Mexico earned a trip in the championship with a similar 4-0 victory over BYU.
