Boise State's Travers Is #1 In Par 4 Scoring

Boise State's Nick Travers leads all collegiate men golfers in Par 4 Scoring in statistics released by GolfStat. The Bronco men and women teams, however, have some work to do to catch up to their WAC brothers and sisters.

Boise State senior golfer Nick Travers leads the nation in Subpar Strokes per Round on Par 4 Scoring, in statistics released this week by GolfStat. Travers is tied with East Tennessee State's Rhys Davies with 4.92 subpar strokes each. USC's Jamie Lovemark is third at 4.62.

The Nevada men are 8th in the nation as a team in Par 3 Scoring, averaging 3.18 strokes.

For the women, the Western Athletic Conference is represented in the national leaders by San Jose State junior Jenelle Gomez, who is 6th in the country in Par 3 Scoring (3.03) and Hawai'i senior Dale Gammie, who is ranked 9th in Greens in Regulation (hitting the green at a 72.9% clip). As a team, the Nevada women are 8th in the nation in Par 3 scoring, averaging 3.20 strokes per hole.

The Boise State men are ranked sixth in the WAC and #136 in the nation in team rankings posted by GolfWeek magazine. Nevada is the top-ranked league team at #93, followed by Fresno State at #104, New Mexico State (#119), Hawai'i (#128), Boise State, San Jose State (#153), Idaho, the #180 team in the country, and Utah State at #224.

The Bronco women are the lowest of the competitive WAC, ranked #85 in the country. San Jose State is #24, followed by Hawai'i, the #40 team in the nation, Idaho (#52), Fresno State (#60), New Mexico State (#61) and Nevada (#66).

The Boise State men are coming off a ninth place finish at the Ron Moore Invitational in Arizona and will compete in the Belmont Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee April 2-3. The Bronco women are in Junction City, Oregon for the Oregon Duck Invitational tomorrow and Tuesday.

The WAC Tournament is slated for April 30-May 2 in Reno.
