Boise State/Univ of ID: Historic Agreement

In a move that is sure to be questioned for years to come, Boise State released news yesterday, (Saturday March 30th), that they had reached an agreement with the University of Idaho that will tie the 2 schools together as conference mates for the next decade at least, and quite possibly much longer into the future.

Seemingly out of the Blue, Boise State University has announced that they have signed a binding contract with the University of Idaho that will keep the two schools tethered at the hip, (as it were), for the next decade at least, and if the wording in the contract is to be believed, much longer into the future than that.

No reason was given for the sudden announcement, but sources close to the negotiations have indicated that the contract came about because of a strong inuendo from the State Board of Education and other influential State leaders.

The only member of either Athletic Department that has publicly commented on the development is Syd Finch, asst. director of future developmentes at Boise State University. Said Mr. Finch, "I'm somewhat new to this area, but these type of agreements are common place between in-state rivals who want to see the rivalry continue, especially with conference affiliations in such a state of flux in recent years. Now Bronco fans can rest assured that their rivalry with Idaho will continue to mean more than simply another win."

The Official Announcement wasn't released until late last night on the official internet home of the Broncos, BroncoSports.con. Please Click here to read the official announcement and see the exact wording used in the contract.
