Tatiana Ghanza Returns To Lineup

Boise State tennis fans have long awaited the return of the popular Tatiana Ghanza to the lineup. They got their wish last week when she made her 2007 debut and helped the Broncos upset #39 Washington State 5-2. Will her return give Boise State another upset today against #27 BYU?

The return of All-Western Athletic Conference player Tatiana Ganzha comes just in time for the Boise State women's tennis team.  Ganzha, who was 9-4 in singles last fall prior to an injury, has been out of action all year until appearing in doubles play last week against #39 Washington State.  She exploded on the scene last year with a 33-6 singles record.

#43 Boise State faces #27 BYU in Provo this afternoon in a key matchup for Coach Mark Tichenor's team.  The Broncos are fresh off an upset of Washington State and hope to continue their hot play.  This is the final road trip for the Lady Broncos as they prepare for the WAC Tennis Tournament in Boise three weeks from tomorrow.  The addition of Ganzha will greatly improve depth, although how sharp she is after a long layoff is difficult to predict.

Senior Tiffany Cole leads the Broncos into action against the Cougars.  She has been solid with 21 singles wins and an 11-1 doubles record with teammate Bianca Jochimsen.  Cole has a career record of 72-22 heading into the final month of her Boise State career.  Jana Mackova will play #3 singles today; she sports a 21-6 overall record.  Laura Baum is Coach Tichenor's doubles specialist—Baum and Mackova are 20-3 this year.  That duo will take on the #47 doubles team in the nation this afternoon of Jennifer Miccoli and Anastasia Sourkova.  Baum is also 3-0 in singles action.

Mississippi State transfer Polina Kokoulina has chalked up an 8-2 record at #2 singles and is 2-2 at the top position.  She'll welcome Ganzha today at #2 doubles.  Klaudia Wlodarczyk is 12-2 in her first year at Boise State, including a current five-match winning streak.  Jochimsen has played both #1 singles (1-9) and #2 singles (2-2) this season.   Stacy Housley leads the Lady Broncos with a 20-7 record and the 5-6 senior is 52-22 in her career at Boise State.

Boise State also has a match scheduled with Denver this Friday.
