Bronco Women Shut Out Hawai'i 4-0 At WAC

The Boise State women's tennis team cleared their first hurdle, defeating Hawai'i 4-0 in the WAC Quarterfinals. The Broncos take on Nevada tomorrow at noon at the Appleton Center.

The Boise State women's tennis team took care of business in the quarterfinals of the Western Athletic Conference Championship in Boise today.  Boise State blanked #7 Hawai'i to advance into the semifinals, where Coach Mark Tichenor's team will collide with #3 Nevada.  The Wolf Pack disposed of #6 Utah State in easy fashion as well with a 4-0 win.


Boise State, 17-3 on the season, won the doubles point as Jana Mackova and Laura Baum puta way Sophie Kobuch and Julia Hodges 8-0 at No. 1 doubles and senior Tiffany Coll combined with Klaudia Wlodarczyk for an 8-1 win over Hawai'i's Julia Sandborn and Kana Aikawa.


Bianca Jochimsen returned to her winning ways with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Aikawa, while Wlodarczyk ousted Florence Wasko 6-2, 6-4 and Coll downed Samanta Cappella 6-0, 6-0.


Boise State will play Nevada at noon tomorrow (Friday) at the Appleton Tennis Center on campus.  The other WAC semifinal pits the winners of the Fresno State-San Jose State and Idaho-New Mexico State matches.  That semifinal will be at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon at the Appleton Center.
