Bart's Blog: Times Have Changed

I grew up a stones throw from the campus of UNR. I was a big fan of the Pack and enjoyed their winning ways in the late 80's and early 90's. I remember hating BSU for running around the field cheering with all their fans, dressed in orange, crammed into each corner of the stadium. I bled Blue and Gray and Boise State fans grew potatoes. I hated potatoes growing up. Wow, how times have changed.

Now, I enjoy potatoes and I am not a big fan of the football program in Reno.

I could give a few reasons why I decided not to play ball there but that would just bring some bad karma my way and I am in no way ready for it. But I will say this; if there was any game this season that that I wouldn't mind seeing a few more points lit up on the Broncos side of the scoreboard this is it. In fact, I even used some HOF leverage to grab myself a sideline pass. I want to witness this game up close. If you see me down there give a yell.

So I have no analysis to give, no insights on what may or may not happen, and certainly no predictions. All I can say is that I am not a fan of Nevada anymore. I am just going to assume that you know what I want to happen on the blue Sunday. I want to enjoy this game like a fan. A fan of BSU.

What I have done though, is put a little insight to a particular Nevada game that occurred in the year 1999. I am writing the story with two parts to help build the dramatics of it all. The first is already posted on my site barthendricks.com. It is part of my Blue Diaries series and I call it "The Curious Incident of a Thrown Chair." It is a serious yet completely hilarious set of events that plays out just before and during halftime. Soon to be taken to the next level of antics the following day. The cast of main characters involves one head coach, one starting quarterback, and one quarterback that is currently our offensive coordinator. Look for part two Monday.

Bart Hendricks... played a few times for Boise State.
