Lady Broncos Score Historic 85-68 Win

Boise State's women's basketball team was fired up and scored an important road win over Louisiana Tech 85-68 tonight. It was the first time in history that a team defeated the Lady Techsters in consecutive conference road games.

The Broncos ran out to a 22-13 lead with 9:09 to play.  Tech cut the lead to three with 3:15 remaining before Boise State poured in the final seven points of the half and the first five of the second half to go up 45-30.  The Lady Broncos extended the lead to 22 points at 80-58 and coasted the remainder of the game.

Amanda Stewart collected her first career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Boise State.  Jamia Malone had 14, while Tasha Harris and Jessica Thompson added 10 each.  Jenna Galassi had nine points and six rebounds.  Natassja Levingston led Louisiana Tech with 17 points but was held scoreless in the second half.  Shanavia Dowdell hit for 17 points and brought down eight boards.  JoKierra Sneed contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Techsters while Tarkeisha Wysinger had 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Bronco defense held Tech to 38 percent shooting from the field (25-66), and also benefited by outrebounding the Western Athletic Conference's top rebounding team 49-39.

The Boise State win was the first for a WAC team on the road this season, improving their season mark to 9-6 overall and 1-2 in league play.  Tech fell to 7-9 on the season and 1-2 in the WAC.

The Broncos face two critical home games next week, taking on Utah State Thursday and Nevada Saturday.
