The Boise State wrestling squad may run into a buzzsaw in #1 Iowa Sunday afternoon, but they are red-hot now in rolling up a 10-1 dual record. The Broncos swept two top NAIA teams tonight in preparation for their battle with Iowa.
The BoiseStateUniversity wrestling team put away NAIA powers Montana State-Northern
and Great Falls tonight and can now focus their attention squarely on the
#1 team in the land, Iowa.
Greg Randall's team handed MSU-Northern a 38-8 defeat and then downed Great
Falls 26-12.Great Falls is #2 in NAIA while MSU-Northern is ranked sixth.BoiseState improved their dual record to 10-1 heading into the huge
challenge against the Hawkeyes Sunday.
Cory Fish and Johnny Nunez paced the Broncos to victory against
MSU-Northern.Matt Casperson also had a
technical fall win (17-0) to lead the BoiseState win.In the
nightcap, Tyler Sherfey scored a 14-6 major decision over Wayne French of Great Falls, the #1 wrestler in NAIA who defeated Sherfey at the
Cowboy Open last November.
match against Iowa marks the first time that a #1 team will visit Boise.Iowa is 16-1 this season heading into tonight's match against ArizonaState.Iowa features two wrestlers ranked #1 in the nation and nine
out of ten ranked in InterMat's national rankings.The match begins at (MT) in Taco Bell Arena.
