Tesoro HS LB John Michael Davis (Las Flores, CA) became the fifth Bronco commitment for the 2009 recruiting class back on June 19th. "I'm 100% committed to Boise State," he said. "I'm happy with my decision."

One of the reasons Davis is so happy with his decision is because now he can spend his days focusing on the upcoming season, rather than fielding calls from prospective suitors, a list that undoubtedly would have grown as the recruiting season progressed.

Davis (6'2, 225, 4.59) is rated a three star recruit by Scout.com and is the #14 WLB prospect in the nation. He held an offer from New Mexico and received interest from California, Notre Dame, and UCLA when he committed, but interest in the atheltic LB was building in a hurry.

Davis was recruited by Coach (Viliami) Tuivai and Coach (Pete) Kwiatkowski. "They are real down to earth," he said. "I like that. I could talk to them like my friends," he added.

The standout LB and his family came up for an unofficial visit to Boise State and the trip was certainly a memorable one. "We took a tour of the campus and we loved it," Davis said. The trip had just gotten underway when Davis felt that Boise State was the school for him. "I committed to Coach Tuivai," he said. "It just felt right." The facilities at Boise State have once again proven to be an excellent recruiting tool. "The indoor practice facility was awesome," he said. "I'm excited about the Bronco Stadium renovation as well."

Davis met Chris Petersen shortly after committing. "Coach Pete loves the program," he said. "He's awesome. He discussed the football program and the renovation plans. The meeting was great," he added.

Davis knows two current Broncos. "I know Tommy Gallarda, and Hunter White," he said. "I talked to them and let them know I committed." Having a couple of friends on the team did play a small role in his decision. "It made me a feel a little more comfortable. It influenced my decision a little bit."

John Michael was looking for a few characteristics in his future school and he found those in Boise State. "I wanted to play for good coaches and I just wanted to feel comfortable," he said. The trust factor was very important in his decision. "I felt I could really trust the coaches. That's what made me feel comfortable with my decision."

Last season, Davis racked up 80 tackles to go along with one interception. "I don't have any personal goals for this season," he said. "I just want to win." John Michael will bring a hard hitting mentality to the Bronco defense. "I like to hit people," he said. "I was originally a safety. I gained about twenty pounds and the coaches felt LB would be a better position for me," he added.

Davis is yet another stellar Bronco recruit that gets the job done on and off the field. "My GPA is a 3.2 and my SAT score was a 1500," he said. BroncoCountry.com will have updates on John Michael Davis throughout his senior season.
