Everything He Expected

Kempner HS CB Quaylon Ewing (Sugar Land, TX) spent last weekend in Boise on his official visit for the game against Idaho State. Despite having committed during the summer, this was the first trip to Boise for Ewing. He spoke with BroncoCountry.com and offered his thoughts on his first trip to Boise, the Bronco football program, and the coaching staff...

Kempner HS CB Quaylon Ewing (Sugar Land, TX) became the second 2009 Boise State commitment back on May 29th. He committed to the Broncos without ever having visited Boise, let alone Idaho, but after spending the weekend in the Idaho Capital City it looks like his feelings were right all along. "I loved Boise," he said. "It was a one of a kind experience."

Ewing explained that he and his family felt at home the moment they stepped off the plane. They were greeted right away by (Assistant Director of Football Operations) Aristotle Thompson. "Mr. Thompson was an amazing host," he said. "He treated me and my family with the upmost respect."

Quaylon was able to spend some time with a friend and future teammate. "George (Iloka) showed me around Boise," he said. "He showed me some places where they go to hangout. The food in Boise is excellent."

Ewing was finally able to meet Chris Petersen and it was an exciting moment to say the least. "Coach Pete is a great guy," he said, racalling the meeting. "He's always busy and he's down to earth. He just wants to win."

The future Bronco got to see every aspect of the football program, and the recent high-profile upgrades to the Boise State athletic facilities were as impressive to him as they have been to supporters in Boise. "The facilities were amazing," he said. "I really liked the new press box."

One other facility that proved to be an excellent recruiting tool for Quaylon was the new indoor practice facility. "I thought the indoor facility was nice," he said. "That makes a football player happy to be a football player. You don't have that in high school. It's great to know we will always have a place to practice," he added.

Gameday was certainly an exciting one for Ewing as he got to go through all the pre-game preparation routines. "Gameday was what I expected," he said. "They went through their routines and they were all focused. They all knew their job."

While Ewing was the only recruit in Boise for their official visit, he did run into one more Bronco recruit while at the game, Kirby Moore. Ewing was introduced to Kirby while on the field for pre-game warmups. "Kirby is a cool guy," he said. "He was excited to see his brother."

The fact that he was the only official visit in Boise for the weekend certainly didn't seem to bother him at all. "They treated me and my family like kings," he said. "The visit was a 12 on a scale of 1-10."

Overall, the visit made Ewing's commitment even more firm. "I'm 200% committed to Boise State now," he said. "My mom and dad loved the visit and they can't wait to go back as well.
