Garrett's Dream Deserves Bronco Fan's Support

After Saturday's historic Bronco victory, you'd think that the game balls, those trophies of the Bronco's win at Autzen, would be safely locked up in a secure place. While that would be true of nearly all all of them, one game ball ended up in a Hospital room in Boise with a special young man who, despite battling cancer, is still an inspiration to many, including the Broncos themselves...

Fresh off their victory at Oregon's Autzen Stadium on Saturday, Boise State head coach Chris Petersen and starting QB Kellen Moore paid a visit to a very special Bronco fan to give him one of the Bronco's game ball.

Garrett Schram is a 13 year old former football player who is now facing a much tougher opponent than anything he faced on the field. Garrett is fiting bone and soft-tissue cancer at St. Lukes, attending school through their Children's Hospital School.

Despite his battle, Garrett has remained a Boise State football fan, telling the Idaho Statesman that he was, "a Bronco fan before being a Bronco fan was cool." You can read the entire article about Garrett and his receiving the game ball here.

Besides the Broncos, Garrett has one other passion at the moment, creating a room in the Hospital where teenagers can hang out and just be teenagers; listen to music, surf on a computer, watch a movie, or maybe even watch the Broncos on TV.

We at BroncoCountry have no doubt that Garrett will be successful in reaching this goal because of his drive and devition to his goal. It's that drive and devotion, despite his personal struggles, that has won over the Bronco coaches and players.. and it's that same drive and devotion that should win over the Bronco fans and BroncoCountry members as well.

That's why we here at BroncoCountry are asking our members, readers, and even casual lurkers to help make Garrett's dream a reality. We all have the chance to help something positive happen out of what is a terrifying and heart wrenching ordeal that no family should have to endure.

Donations to the teen room at the St. Luke's Children's Hospital School may be made in Garrett Schram's name. Mail donations to: St. Luke's Health Foundation, 190 E. Go Broncos! and.. Give Broncos!!
