Boise State Leads For Texas DE

Hebron HS DE Stansly Maponga (Lewisville, TX) has been carefully weighing his options throughout the recruiting process. Recently, one school has taken the lead for his services and Maponga has already planned an official visit to that school. Could Maponga's next stop be 'The Blue'? He spoke to about his recruitment and he offered his thoughts on the Bronco's football program.

Hebron HS DE Stansly Maponga (Lewisville, TX) has been recruited very heavily throughout the summer and fall, but he has started to see one school in particular rise above the others.

"I'm still weighing my options," he said. "Still, I'd have to say Boise State is the slight leader at this point." Maponga also has offers from Iowa State, Buffalo, Louisiana Tech, UTEP, and Utah State. "Utah, Louisville, and Fresno State are also showing interest," he said. "I might take a visit to those schools."

Maponga (6.2, 240, 4.8) has already set an official visit date and he will be in attendance when the Broncos take on Utah State on November 8th. "I've never been to Boise," he said. "I'm excited about the visit."

Stansly is being recruited by Coach (Brent) Pease and Coach (Pete) Kwiatkowski. "Coach Pease and Coach Kwiatkowski are recruiting me," he said. "They care about their players and what they are going through. They want to help develop you and get you to that next level," he added. Maponga also thinks very highly of Chris Petersen. "I talk to Coach Pete a good bit," he said. "He's a great coach. He understands you and he cares."

The personality of the coaches at Boise State and their beliefs in how to run a football program have been clearly recognized throughout the recruiting season. It hasn't gone unnoticed by Maponga either. "The biggest reason I'm interested in Boise State is because of the coaches," he said.

Stansly has followed the Broncos all season. "I watched their game against Louisiana Tech," he said. "It was a wonderful game. I loved the way they played." He came away very impressed with the performance of the defense as well. "The defense played great," he said. "That goal line stand was amazing."

The win at Oregon this season looks to be helping in recruiting. It's apparent that recruits are taking notice of that big victory and it certainly has helped Boise State in the recruitment of Maponga. "I really didn't think they were going to win," he said. "I was very impressed and I liked Boise State even more after that win," he added.

Maponga is still looking at each school carefully and he wants to make the best decision. "I'm planning on committing in December," he said. "I'll be 100% when I commit."

Boise State appears to have Maponga's parents on their side as they really like what the Bronco football program has to offer. "My parents think Boise State is a wonderful school," he said. "That is where they would like for me to go." The reason? "It's because of the coaches," he said.

Hebron HS has gotten off to a bit of a rough start. "We're 2-3," he said. The schedule doesn't get any easier as Maponga and his teammates will take on Flower Mound HS this Friday. "They are 5-0," he said. "They like to throw the ball a lot. We have to work on our pass rush." Stansly is certainly doing his part on the field. "I've got three sacks and twenty-five tackles," he said.

Maponga appears that he could be that third key recruit along the defensive line. The Broncos have made Texas a priority since Brent Pease arrived from Baylor and it's clear that Boise State is building a pipeline for years to come. Arron Burks and Quaylon Ewing are already in the fold. Could Stansly Maponga be next? The Broncos certainly appear to be in good shape at this point. will have updates on Stansly Maponga throughout his recruitment.
