7 Straight Wins in 7 Straight Years!

We recently chronicled the amazing run of consecutive seasons in which Boise State has won seven or more games. Hidden inside those seasons is an amazing statistic--the Broncos happen to have won at least seven consecutive games in each of those years.

Boise State's football team has made its share of history the last several years.  With their seventh consecutive win of the season over San Jose State, however, the Broncos put together an amazing statistic.  Boise State has now won seven consecutive games in each of the last seven seasons!

I thought upon hearing that news that it had to be pretty significant, but I wasn't prepared for what I found.  With their amazing consistency over the last seven years, Boise State became just the sixth team in the history of college football to do that.  They are the second of the modern era, and the first team to do it since Michigan from 1969-1976.  Best of all, the streak is not over.

Princeton holds the all-time record with 21 consecutive years of winning seven consecutive games.  The Tigers did it from 1883-1903.  Yale is second by achieving the feat from 1886-1898.  Harvard did it 10 straight years (1886-1895) while Pennsylvania (1891-1898) and the aforementioned Michigan team had a streak of eight consecutive years.

Of all the history made by Boise State, this statistic is probably the most interesting!
