An Opportunity Of A Lifetime..

Capitol Senior HS OL Bryant Thomas (Boise, ID) became the fifteenth 2009 Bronco commitment just a week ago. A journey of hard work and dedication paid off when he finally received that coveted offer from Boise State. He spoke to BroncoCountry.com about his commitment to Boise State and his future as a Bronco.

Capitol Senior HS OL Bryant Thomas (Boise, ID) became the fifteenth 2009 Bronco commitment just a week ago. The story of Bryant Thomas is one of hard work and dedication. "My dad told me all the hard work had paid off," he said. "All of the summer workouts and being sore following games. It finally paid off when I got that offer from Boise State," he added.

Bryant (6'2, 250) received the offer from Boise State a little over a week ago. "I got my offer on Wednesday," he said. "Me and Coach Pete were sitting on the couch in his office. He told me they wanted me to be a Bronco." His reaction? "I almost started crying to be honest," he said. "It's an opportunity of a lifetime." Thomas would commit to Boise State just one day later. "It was a dream come true," he said.

The relationship that Bryant built with the coaches at Boise State is what influenced him the most. "Coach Huff recruited me," he said. "I've known him for a few years. That really influenced my decision." Thomas also made an instant connection with Chris Petersen. "Coach Pete is humble. I love that," he said. "He's never too uptight to crack a joke. He's a great person to be around and he cares about his players."

Thomas became the second Capitol Senior HS prospect to join the 2009 recruiting class. WR Geraldo Hiwat committed to Boise State in August. What does Geraldo bring to the Broncos? "Geraldo is a real cool person," he said. "He was always there in the huddle and making sure we stayed focus. He's a leader and he's inspiring," he added.

Bryant has been at every Bronco home game this season. He enjoys the atmosphere at Bronco Stadium. "The atmosphere is amazing," he said. "I love the Boise...State chant before the game. I love participating in it as well."

Thomas is thrilled over the performance of the Broncos this season. "They are beasts," he said. "No other word to describe them. They get down to work from start to finish."

The plan is for Thomas to gray-shirt and enroll at Boise State in January of 2010. "That's the plan right now," he said. "I'll be lifting hard and getting to know the players so I'll be ready."

Capitol Senior HS finished the season with a record of 9-2. It was a season of missed opportunities. "We lost 3-0 to Mountain View last week," he said. "We had too many penalties and too many turnovers."

The Boise State coaching staff has been hard at work trying to find recruits that fit their team concept. "The blue collar mentality, the selflessness, and working hard," he said. "That's what it means to be a Bronco." It sounds like Thomas will fit right in with that team concept.
