Boise State's football team once again finished in the nation's Top 15 in the final polls released Friday. The Broncos, which likely would have been ranked near the top five had they defeated TCU, settled for #11 in the Associated Press Poll and 13th in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Boise State headed into the Poinsettia Bowl undefeated for the second time in three years and were ranked #9 in the Bowl Championship Series Standings as well as the AP and USA Today Polls.
TCU climbed to #7 following it's one-point come-from-behind win over Boise State while Oregon, which lost to Boise State 37-32 on their home field, also passed the Broncos. The Ducks jumped from #18 all the way to #9 in the AP Poll and #10 in the Coaches Poll.
Boise State landed in familiar territory--the Broncos have been ranked in the Top 20 in both final polls five times in the last seven years. The Broncos are one of just 10 teams to do that, the other nine being Ohio State, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, LSU, Virginia Tech, Auburn and Michigan.
Boise State and USC are the only two teams over the past seven years to win 80 games, make seven bowl games, win at least six conference championships and be ranked in the Top 20 at least five of those years.
