Broncos Land East Bay Star

Boise State had to beat out at three other schools who offered Jonathan Brown, including one Big-12 team, but a late trip to the Boise State campus sealed the deal for the East Bay Outstanding Player of the Year.

According to a report from the Contra Costa Times, Boise State has landed another Bay area CA star besides Joe Southwick.

The online edition of the Contra Costa Times has published a report that Jonathan Brown, a QB/S prospect from Encina HS, visited Boise State this weekend and verbally committed to the team.

Reportedly, Brown, a 5'11 200lb athlete starred as a QB and LB, and nearly single-handedly led his Jets to a North Coast Section Division III championship victory against Novato.

To say Brown dominated the game is an understatement. Brown accounted for all 5 of his team's TD, throwing for 3 and rushing for 2. He also had 10 tackles from his LB position, blocked punt and forced a turnover late in the game on a sack that led to the go-ahead TD. He literally willed his team to victory.

For the season, Brown threw for 28 TD's agaisnt only 7 INT's and rushed for over 860 yards, and on defense he toaled 92 tackles with 8 sacks.

Production like that, at that level of competition hardly goes unnoticed, and for Brown it brought about offers from Air Force San Diego State, and Colorado, but it was a trip to Boise that would lead to Brown finding his home for the next 4-5 years.

BroncoCountry will bring you the lastet on Jonathan, including an interview with the newest Bronco, shortly.
