BREAKING NEWS: Tjong A Tjoe Commits To Boise

Boise Senior HS DT Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe (Boise, ID) had an in-home visit with three Bronco coaches on Wednesday and decided to put his recruitment to an end, committing to Boise State. The standout DT had been recruited heavily by Oregon, Washington, and Washington State as well. He spoke to about his commitment to Boise State and his future as a Bronco.

Boise Senior HS DT Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe (Boise, ID) had an in-home visit with three Bronco coaches on Wednesday. "Coach Pete, Coach K, and Coach Wilcox came for the visit," he said.

Chris Petersen came with a plan and that eventually sealed the deal. "Coach Pete came in with a list of things that should matter to me," he said. "The important things. It had Boise State/Neutral/Oregon and it favored Boise State."

Ricky then made a list of his own. "I made one of my own and Boise State came out on top," he said. Excitement filled the room when Tjong-A-Tjoe made his decision. "Coach Pete was excited and everyone started screaming," he said with a laugh.

Geraldo Hiwat (Bronco commit) and Cedric Febis (Bronco DB) received the news as well. "I texted Geraldo and told him I committed," he said. "He called me and wanted to know which school and I jokingly told him Oregon. I told him I was just joking and committed to Boise State. He was happy." Cedric Febis shared the excitement as well. "Cedric told me to stick with it if it feels good," he said. "I told him it felt good," he added.

The recruiting process has been long and Ricky is glad it's over. "It was a sigh of relief to get it behind me," he said. "I thought about committing over the weekend. I decided to wait a little bit."

Why did Tjong-A-Tjoe choose Boise State? "Well, it was a combination of playing football at a good level and good academics," he said. "I have my friend and my host family to fall back to. The combination of those three will help me get through college," he added.

The standout DT hopes to continue the winning tradition at Boise State. "The most wins possible," he said. "Go to some Bowl Games. Win some championships. That would be good."

A scheduled in-home visit with Oregon has been canceled. "I called Oregon and let them know," he said. "I'm about to call Washington State as well."

Tjong-A-Tjoe becomes the twenty-first commitment for the 2009 recruiting class with his pledge to Boise State. "It feels good," he said. "I mean, I'm not one that likes to show off but I'm pretty excited." will continue to have updates on Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe.
