Broncos' Anderson in 4th Place in Heptathlon

Boise State has an athlete in the thick of the heptathlon competition at the WAC Track Championships in Nampa--but it isn't Eric Demers. Demers is 8th after the first day of competition while teammate Steve Anderson is in 4th.


Boise State's Steve Anderson has moved into fourth place after the first day of competition in the heptathlon at the Western Athletic Conference Track Championships today in Nampa.  Anderson has not competed in the event so far this season. 

Anderson won the shot put competition with a throw of 41 feet and has 2,844 points after the first four events of the heptathlon.  Favorite John Strang of Utah State leads with 3,176 points while Mike Carpenter of Idaho is second with 2,874 points and Jon Goble of Utah State is third with 2,857.  Eric Demers of Boise State, the fourth-seeded heptathlete, is in eighth place with 2,670 points.  Heigo Nurmsalu, the #2 seed in the WAC, did not enter the competition.
