Breaking News: CSI Star Commits to Broncos

BroncoCountry has confirmed reports that the Bronco Basketball program has landed another hardwood gem.. this time from right here in the Gem State. College of Southern Idaho PF Daequon Montreal visited Boise State this past weekend and gave the good news to the Bronco Coaches before leaving...

BroncoCountry.com confirmed just tonight that Daequon Montreal, a 6'8 220lb PF originally from Syracuse, NY has committed to Boise State.

Montreal canceled a visit to Fresno State this past weekend to come to Boise to officially visit the Broncos. He had already taken an official visit to Oral Roberts back in November of this year, and was scheduled to visit University of Southern Florida this coming weekend for his final official visit, but the status of that trip is in doubt with his commitment to the Broncos.

When reached for confirmation/comments, CSI Head Coach Steve Gosar confirmed to Scout.com that, "Yes…Daequon did visit and commit to Boise State. He is a good player and an even better person. I think he will be a great addition to Boise State's program."

After high school, Montreal spent a year at God's Academy Preparatory School in Dallas Texas before joining CSI in 2007.

For his Sophomore campaign, Montreal averaged 15.9 points and 9 rebounds and 1 blocked shot per game. Despite earning his time down low, Montreal shot 40% from the 3-point line and over 70% from the charity stripe.

Largely considered the leader of the Eagles 08-09 team, Montreal is agile enough to guard the 3, but powerful enough to take on opposing centers as well.

He should come to Boise State with 3 to play 2, but is expected to contribute right away.

Look for more information on Daequon tomorrow, including more information and quotes from his former CSI head coach Steve Gosar.
