Broncos Gain First 2010 Commitment

Bakersfield College DL Tyrone Crawford (Windsor, ON) recently became the first 2010 commitment for the Broncos as he has chosen to bring his talent to The Blue. The talented prospect has been on the Boise State radar for the past year, and in fact helped Boise State land one of their future stars. He spoke to BroncoCountry.com about his own commitment to Boise State and his future as a Bronco.

Bakersfield College DL Tyrone Crawford (Windsor, ON) recently became the first 2010 commitment for the Broncos as he will bring his talent to The Blue in Boise. "Words can't explain it," he said in reference to his commitment. "The coaches recruited me out of HS and they have been good to me." In fact, it was during that HS recruitment of Tyrone that the Bronco coaches found their way to current Defensive Tackle standout Mike 'Bacon' Atkinson.

The Boise State coaches once again used their connections in their recruitment of Crawford. Tyrone and (current Bronco) Mike Atkinson are great friends. "I can't wait to play with Mike," he said. "It's exciting that I'll have that opportunity. I'm looking forward to it."

Crawford (6'5, 258) was recruited by (DL Coach) Pete Kwiatkowski. "Coach Kwiatkowski recruited me," he said. "I like that he is straight up with you. He's a good guy. He keeps in touch with me," he added.

Boise State Head Coach Chris Petersen was thrilled with Crawford's commitment. "Coach Pete was pumped when I committed. I like the way he coaches and keeps it together. Mike (Atkinson) told me all the guys are a big family."

The Bronco football program is all about evaluation of both talent and character. "I think it's a great program," he said. "I've been told that they don't recruit players just as players. It's about the person too. You have to be the right guy and it feels good to be that guy. The coaches are just amazing."

What does Crawford bring to the Broncos? "I'm a good edge rusher," he said. "I'm pretty fast and I'm good at holding my position against the OL. I'm a fast learner," he added. Tyrone was recruited by Boise State as a DE.

The future Bronco DL is still looking to visit Boise. He plans to in the near future. "I haven't visited Boise yet," he said. "I'll take a visit. I'm hoping it'll be soon. Just not sure when at this time."

The current plan for Tyrone is to enroll at Boise State in January of 2010. "I'll hopefully be able to enroll in January. That's the plan. I've got some work to finish but I expect to have it done."
