Lady Broncos Advance to WAC Semifinals

It did not take long for Boise State to advance to the next round at the WAC Women's Tennis Championships in Hawai'i. The Broncos blanked Utah State 4-0 to move on to the semifinals against either Nevada or Idaho.

#36 Boise State dominated Utah State in the opening round of the women's Western Athletic Conference tennis championships today in Honolulu, rocking the Aggies 4-0.

Pichittra Thongdach and Lauren Megale shut out Hailey Swenson and Bridgette Strickland 8-0 and Vivien Silfany and Klaudia Wlodarczyk put away Monica Abella and Carla Limon of Utah State 8-1 to secure the doubles point for Coach Mark Tichenor's Broncos.  Boise State picked up from there in singles play.

The Broncos needed three singles wins to advance to the WAC semifinals and they got them easily.  Wlodarczyk needed just 12 games to beat Limon in straight sets, and Silfany duplicated that feat over Abella.  When Megale finished off Strickland 6-1, 6-1 Boise State clinched the shutout.

Boise State will take on the winner of the Nevada/Idaho match which is currently being played.
