Boise State Women Headed to Big Dance

The Boise State women's tennis team will participate in the NCAA Championships despite a heartbreaking loss to Fresno State in the WAC title match. The Broncos will meet #24 Alabama in the opening round.

Boise State has been selected as an at-large team in the 2009 NCAA Women's Tennis Championships following their classic battle with eight-time Western Athletic Conference champion Fresno State.

The Broncos (23-4) were tabbed as the #41 seed in the 64-team tournament and will take on #24 Alabama (15-8) in May.  Coach Mark Tichenor's team will travel to Athens, Georgia for the first round matches.  If Boise State is fortunate to knock off Alabama they will then face the task of playing the host and #2 team in the land, Georgia.

Fresno State is making its 14th consecutive trip to the Championships, where they will play unranked Eastern Kentucky.  The Broncos were leading Fresno State in the WAC championship match until the final game of the final set of the last individual match of the championship.
