Local QB Is On Boise State's Radar

The Treasure Valley boasts one of the top QBs in the State of Idaho for 2010. He has garnered interest from schools across the region and he's hoping to receive his first offer following the camp circuit this summer. Boise State has shown a lot of interest in this homegrown recruit, and he spoke to BroncoCountry.com about his interest in the Broncos. Who is he? Click here to find out..

Eagle High School QB Taylor Kelly (Eagle, ID) is one of the top QBs in the State of Idaho for 2010. His recruitment has recently picked up steam as numerous programs have shown interest. "Boise State, Arizona State, Idaho, Washington, Idaho State, Oregon State, and Oregon have all shown interest," he said. "Boise State, Oregon State, and Arizona State are recruiting me the hardest."

Kelly (6'2, 182, 4.65) is currently being recruited by Coach (Bryan) Harsin. "Coach Harsin is recruiting me," he said. "He calls me and I'll go talk to him a bit. He's a good guy. He's interested in not only football but basketball and family and stuff," he added.

Taylor knows a lot about Boise State football since he grew up a Bronco fan. "I like it because it's hometown and a lot of family and friends could come watch if I do end up going there," he said. "I like the coaching staff. Coach Pete is a real humble guy and knows what he's talking about."

The Eagle Mustangs have one of the best football programs in Idaho and Kelly has helped continue that winning tradition. "We went 11-1 and lost in the state championship last season," he said. "We lost 28-14 to Highland." The 2008 team was all about teamwork and family. "We just connected," he said. "We've been with each other a couple years. We ran the ball good and me and my receivers had a good connection. We relied on a lot of people," Kelly added. Last season, Kelly threw for 1,800 yards and 17 TDs. He also rushed for 6 TDs.

The Mustangs are currently in the middle of spring practice. "It's going good. It's fun. I'm trying to perfect my footwork and arm mechanics. I want to know where I'm going with the ball and what guy to read."

The camp circuit will be underway soon and Kelly has a busy summer ahead. "I'm going to camps at Boise State, Oregon State, Idaho State, and Arizona State," he said. "I'm also going to the Elite 11 in Oregon, California's Bob Johnson, and the Peyton Manning Camp in Lousiana."

Kelly is looking forward to attending all of the Bronco home games during the 2009 season. The game against Oregon stands out above the rest. "I'm excited," he said in reference to the Ducks coming to The Blue. "It was a battle last year when they played. We'll see what Oregon can come up with this year."
