Broncos Show Interest In Bay Area ATH

Bishop O'Dowd HS ATH Mario Brown (Oakland, CA) has been receiving interest from Boise State over the past few months. Could an offer be in his future? He spoke to BroncoCountry.com about his recruitment, his interest in Boise State, and his HS career to this point.

Bishop O'Dowd HS ATH Mario Brown (Oakland, CA) has been receiving interest from Boise State over the past few months. Could an offer be in his future? "Boise State is recruiting me," he said. "Cal, Boise State, North Dakota, Arizona State, and Arizona are all recruiting me right now."

Boise State has shown a strong interest of late in recruiting versatile ATHs that can play numerous positions. "RB is a natural for me," Brown said. "I feel like I'm the best at RB but I consider myself an ATH. I can play CB, WR, and QB," he added. Last season, Brown excelled in all aspects of the game for the Dragons. He racked up 1,928 yards and 23 TDs at RB. He caught 16 passes for 270 yards at WR and pulled in 5 INTs at CB. Boise State is recruiting Brown as a CB.

The Bronco coaching staff first showed interest in Brown during the spring as they attended one of his track practices. "They came and watched me at track practice," he said. "All the coaches are real friendly and I didn't know much about Boise State until the Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma. They are a top team now and I'm liking the program a lot." Chris Petersen and Chris Strausser were the two Bronco coaches that stopped by to see Brown in action.

Last season, the Dragons finished with a 10-2 record in the highly competitive North Coast Section. "We lost in the second round of the playoffs," Brown said. "State is always the goal but we have to take it one game at a time this season."

Mario (5'8, 170, 4.52) wants the ball in his hands when the game is on the line. That level of competitiveness drives the standout ATH to leave it all on the field. "I bring competitiveness and I'm a game breaker," he said. "I'm that spark that can pull off a big run and get the momentum."
