David Peterson: 'I Want To Be Perfect'

Redlands East Valley HS OL David Peterson (Redlands, CA) currently holds two offers and is hoping to see his stock continue to rise as the start of his senior season is only a couple weeks away. He's currently hearing from Boise State plus numerous other schools. He spoke to BroncoCountry.com about his HS career, his interest in Boise State, and his recruitment thus far.

Redlands East Valley HS OL David Peterson (Redlands, CA) currently holds two offers and is hoping to see his stock continue to rise as the start of his senior season is only a couple weeks away. "I have offers from San Diego State and Nevada," he said. "I'm hearing from a lot of the Pac-10 plus Boise State and Fresno State," he added.

David is currently being recruited by (RBs Coach) Keith Bhonapha. "The RBs Coach is recruiting me," he said. "I last heard from Boise State about three weeks ago. The conversation was mostly just small talk." The winning tradition at Boise State is what Peterson (6'4, 270) likes most about the Broncos. "I think the program is great. They are really coming up and becoming one of the top programs."

The Broncos are no strangers when it comes to recruiting prospects from Redlands East Valley. Derrell Acrey, the outstanding Bronco LB, played his HS ball at Redlands East Valley. "I know Derrell Acrey," Peterson said. "It would be pretty cool to play with Derrell in college."

The OL is the toughest position to project in college football in terms of recruiting. Many coaches across the country prefer to see the OL prospects in action during their senior year before offering and Peterson is in that same situation. "Most schools I have talked to want to wait until my first couple games before offering," he said.

Redlands East Valley is one of the most consistent programs in California. The Wildcats flex their muscle year after year in Southern California and they look to do the same in 2009. "We were 10-2 last year," he said. "I want to be perfect. I want to win state and make the all-state team," Peterson added. The Wildcats open with Clovis East on September 11th. "We play Clovis East. We can't make mistakes and we have to execute, execute, execute. No one can beat us when we execute."

Mobility on the OL is important and Peterson brings that to the gridiron. "I think I'm really mobile," he said. "I'm real good at knocking the D-line off the ball."
