Boise State Soccer Picked To Finish Fourth

Slowly but surely, the Boise State soccer team is advancing up the ladder in the WAC. The young Broncos were chosen to finish fourth in the preseason poll of league coaches.

Boise State has been picked to finish fourth in the Western Athletic Conference this season according to a poll of WAC soccer coaches.  The Broncos received 45 points, just behind Fresno State , which received 49 points.  

Utah State is the overwhelming choice to win the WAC after finishing last season with a perfect 7-0 league record.  The Aggies return seven starters from last year's team.  Hawai'i was voted second, with Nevada chosen fifth and followed by San Jose State , Louisiana Tech, Idaho in eighth and New Mexico State .  

Bronco junior forward Shannon Saxton was named the WAC's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.  It is the first such honor for the Bronco program.  Saxton holds the school record for career assists with 13 and ranks second in career goals (23) and points (59).   

Boise State is building for a great 2010 as this year's team features just three seniors—forwards Andrea Huerta, goalkeeper Jennifer Burns and middle forward Kaylea Perenon.  

Coach Steve Lucas's Broncos open the season this Friday at Seattle University .
